| We were contacted
by our client to construct an in-law suite for
his elderly mother in-law. This project was a
complex undertaking, since we needed to fulfill
numerous requirements. His mother-in law was a
vital, independent woman with some physical limitations
due to her age. We were asked to create a beautiful
living area, complete with its own exterior entrance
while simultaneously accessible from areas within
the home.
This single - floor addition housed
a spacious bedroom, full bath, walk-in closet
with a separate dressing area, living room with
integral dinette and a small kitchenette…
all the comforts of a home nestled within a home.
We were also able to create a segway from the
existing home to the new addition by constructing
a hall - type gallery that connected to the kitchen/garage
hall. Additionally, this gallery provided access
to a large deck, which overlooked their lovely
yard.
We had to insure the interior
and exterior of the addition blended seamlessly
with the existing traditional style home. As with
all construction or remodeling projects, it is
critical to design the project to accommodate
a family's needs today… and tomorrow. In
this case, the addition was built to accommodate
the needs of an elderly woman, yet could easily
transform from an in - law - suite to a first
floor master suite years down the line, when his
mother - in- law no longer required an independent
living space.
We were able to fulfill every
requirement, thus helping this family provide
security through proximity and independence through
design.

"Our project involved a three story
(including basement) addition on the back
side of the house along with a redo of all
existing bathrooms, a new kitchen, a new
side entrance, and relocation of the laundry.
The addition involved an addition to the
basement, new furnace and air conditioning,
a great room, new fireplace, screen porch,
side entrance hallway, first floor bath,
pantry, mudroom and two upstairs studies.
We enjoyed very much
working with Ken Badalamenti of Riviera
Construction. His competitive bid got him
the job and on the job his insistence on
quality and his follow through were excellent.
Ken practiced good communications, was on
site daily and kept us informed on the project
progress, the challenges, options, changes
and costs.
Ken not only supervised
his sub-contractors closely, but also worked
very professionally with our architect and
designer. He communicated as well with them
as he did with us to ensure the quality
of the construction and of the aesthetics
of the addition. For instance, with the
architect he worked out the best alternative
for a major load bearing beam and, with
the designer, we created unique tile designs
and installations.
We are very pleased
with the addition and the construction process
and would highly recommend Riviera Construction."
